Discovery Leadership
Our core belief is that the best person to deliver the training we offer is people who live in the communities it is offered in. To achieve this from day one we have designed a level 5 Accredited Course that allows local organisations to have the skills to run and deliver all of the Accredited Courses and co-create bespoke units for the needs of their community or organisation. We look after the backroom stuff, have all the systems in place and you do the stuff you are good at.

About the Level 5 Accredited Course
The Accredited Course is taught over two years designed to prepare the student to begin delivering the 2 day and peer mentoring course after 6 months and offers support and learning as people develop their own projects and begin developing.
Again there are core units and the ability to develop bespoke optional units to fit learners needs and wants.
The workshops, lectures, retreats and activities will be delivered by a mixture of staff from Recovery to Discovery and internationally acclaimed thought leaders and trainers.
This course has three distinct progressive learning areas:
- Asset and strength based practice and leadership
- Personal Leadership Development
- Professional Skills
Asset and strength based practice and leadership
These units were originally designed by Cormac Russell from Nurture Development and have gone through a transition to meet the needs people running Trauma focused discovery communities and peer mentor programmes.
These units develop a unique progressive learners journey into understanding and leading organisations from an asset and strength based perspective.

Format
The course is delivered over two years. The first six months are extremely intense and there is a nine day per month in person commitment over this period and weekly online sessions. This is to prepare people to be able to start delivering the 2 day and Level 1 Courses at the end of this time.
The second six months of the course is less intense. We recognise that the learners will have commitments to their own learners and that they will be working. There will be in person long weekends and online sessions in the week. This is designed to support learners as they begin to deliver the 2 day and level 1 courses and develop learner communities. This period also prepares learners to deliver the level 2 course.
The second half of the course is again a mixture of long weekends and online sessions. Finishing the course with a five day intensive. This period again allows ongoing support for learners as they deliver new material and develop learner communities. During this period learners will develop the skills needed to deliver the level 3 course and have the support of both the tutors and other learners whilst delivering courses.
Personal Leadership Development
The course is structured in a way that allows participants to have a deep dive into different modalities of leadership, therapeutic and coaching work and what gets in the way of them being themselves at their best. This then allows learners to use these skills to develop future leaders in their local community or organisation.
The team at From Recovery to Discovery have worked across many sectors developing peer mentors, coaches, leaders and facilitators. The personal development part of the level 5 is what allows learners to the transformative work with others.
We believe by allowing students to experience as many different ways of working with people, they can develop the tool box they need and the ability to be the best version of themselves. It also allows people to continue to be self-directed learners on once they finish the level 5 Course.
